Após as inundações que arruinaram as partes central e sul da China em 1998, Pequim lançou o “programa Grain for Green” (ou “programa de conversão de terras agrícolas em florestas”) para resolver o problema da erosão do solo devido ao desmatamento. No âmbito do programa, as famílias rurais foram compensadas por suas terras agrícolas, as quais foram convertidas em terras florestais. Como resultado da iniciativa, a cobertura florestal chinesa aumentou de 8% em 1960 para os atuais 21%.

Il y a deux mois, la norme sur les droits fonciers a été lancée en marge de la Conférence des Nations Unies sur le changement climatique (CoP27) en Égypte. Il s'agit d'un document unique en son genre, élaboré pendant trois ans avec plus de 70 groupes autochtones, locaux et afro-descendants, qui définit de manière élégante mais ferme des voies pour "prendre en compte et respecter leurs droits distincts et différenciés, y compris leur autonomie, leurs priorités et leur cosmovision", comme l'indique son préambule.

Two months ago, the Land Rights Standard was launched alongside the UN Climate Change Conference (CoP27) in Egypt—a first-of-its-kind document developed over the course of three years with more than 70 Indigenous, local, and Afro-descendant groups, elegantly but firmly laying out pathways for “taking into account and respecting their distinct and differentiated rights, including their autonomy, priorities, and cosmovision,” as is stated in its preamble.

Il y a un an, grâce à une bourse LEDE de Réseau de journalisme de solutions (Solutions Journalism Network ) et en collaboration avec le Land Portal, j'ai lancé un projet visant à trouver des histoires de réponses aux dommages causés à la terre et à l'environnement. Pendant cette période, j'ai affirmé que les communautés et les personnes du monde entier travaillent à la protection et à la guérison de l'environnement, même si ces histoires parviennent à peine aux grands médias.
