The Resolution regulates fertility and conservation of soil. It consists of two charters: Charter for Determining Level of Fertility of Soil (Annex 1) and Charter for Soil Conservation and Fertility Monitoring (Annex 2).

The Programme for World Census of Agriculture 2000 was the sixth prepared by FAO for encouraging countries to undertake an agricultural census with standardized international concepts, definitions and methodologies. The programme covered the censuses carried out during the decade (1996 – 2005).

Increase in the intensity and frequency of climate related natural hazards, increasing rainfall variability, droughts and floods combined with fragile ecosystems and coastal zones all contribute to Jamaica?s overall vulnerability to climate change.
