The Final Technical Report on the National Sustainable Development Plan NSDP 2016 to 2030 details the important strategic context behind the goals and policy objectives. It also provides the detailed background to the consultative process that led to the final document, and explains the key issues under each goal. This is complemented by the Implementation and Monitoring Framework for the National Sustainable Development Plan to guide the execution of this plan. The National Sustainable Development Goals are divided into three pillars: The Society pillar seeks to maintain a vibrant cultural identity underpinning a peaceful, just and inclusive society that is supported by responsive and capable institutions, delivering quality services to all citizens. A healthy population that enjoys a high quality of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being. An inclusive society which upholds human dignity and where the rights of all Ni-Vanuatu including women, youth, the elderly and vulnerable groups.The Environment pillar seeks to preserve natural environment on land and at sea that continues to serve food, cultural, economic and ecological needs, and enhance resilience and adaptive capacity to climate change and natural disasters. A nation that ensures food and nutrition security needs are adequately met for all people through increasing sustainable food production systems and improving household production. Increase agricultural and fisheries food production using sustainable practices to ensure sufficient access to affordable and nutritious food. An economy which fosters sustainable growth and development through low impact industries and modern technologies to ensure the well-being of future generations. A strong and resilient nation in the face of climate change and disaster risks posed by natural and man-made hazards. A nation which utilises and sustainably manages land, water and natural resources. A nation committed to ensuring the conservation and sustainable management of national biodiversity and ecosystems.The Economy pillar seeks to ensure a stable economy based on equitable, sustainable growth that creates jobs and income earning opportunities accessible to all people in rural and urban areas. A stable and prosperous economy, encouraging trade, investment and providing economic opportunities for all members of society throughout Vanuatu. Sustainable and well-maintained infrastructure and services for all, through inclusive and effective partnerships. A strong rural economy that creates opportunities, enables the development of rural communities and increasingly contributes to national prosperity. An enabling business environment, creating opportunities and employment for entrepreneurs throughout Vanuatu.
