Dimple Tresa is a passionate Gender Equality and Empowerment professional with multi domain expertise in Micro Entrepreneurship, Self Help Groups, Producer collectives and Value Chain Development in Agriculture.

Trained in agriculture economics from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, her career spanning over 15 years began as an Agricultural extension professional, and later as faculty in Economics. After completion of her doctoral study which was on women’s collectives and their enterprises, she joined the Centre for Women’s Development Studies in February 2013 and since then have closely studied gender and aspects related to women and development.

The focus of her research has been on economic role of women with a focus on women farmers and their collectives. She has represented CWDS in various discussions on women’s livelihoods and land rights. She co-ordinates the National Level Monitor (NLM) work for monitoring of rural development programmes for the Ministry of Rural Development at CWDS and is responsible for periodic submission of evaluation reports. Presently she is the lead researcher in a three state study commissioned by the National Institute of Rural Development. She has participated in many national and international conferences and has published papers in peer reviewed journals and also contributed to chapters in edited books, the latest being that published by Palgrave Macmillan on Land, Labour and Livelihoods: Indian Women’s Perspectives.
