GODAN Webinar - "Empowering Women for Open Data Mapping in Agriculture: Implications for Land Rights and SDGs in Africa"

Wednesday April 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM CEST

Women empowerment is critical as open data mapping for sustainable agriculture at global and local levels. Data about where and who is empowered is also critical as knowing where and who owns a parcel of land for agriculture. ‘The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description’. She is an epitome of a society that is empowered. Empowering women to drive open data mapping in agriculture is a sure trigger of multiple and measurable targets of SDGs in developing African countries. Issues about women land rights, agricultural sustainability and the SDGs can be tackled with open data mapping. Unique Mappers Network, Nigeria, leverages on open data mapping empowerment to drive GODAN Action, SDGs targets and women inclusive community engagement. This approach impacts positively on knowledge about women land rights and agricultural sustainability and should be advocated for Open data infrastructure, in Nigeria and the developing countries of Africa in general.

This webinar will include panel presentations and discussion as follows:
