   Livestock mobility was an essential characteristic of Kazakh livestock production systems, allowing animals to take advantage of spatial and temporal variability in climate and vegetation, optimising forage intake over the year. These systems broke down following the end of the Soviet Union. In this paper we examine the extent and determinants of the recovery of mobile livestock husbandry in south-eastern Kazakhstan, using surveys and semi-structured interviews with livestock farmers and rural households (holding livestock but not registered as farms).

   Au demeurant, bien accompagner et appuyer les communautés locales dans la défense de leurs droits fonciers suppose une bonne connaissance des mécanismes nationaux et supranationaux de protection des droits fonciers des communautés. Or, si les premiers sont connus et mobilisés par les acteurs et organisations dans le cadre de leur travail, les seconds restent encore largement méconnus et donc peu mobilisés dans la défense des droits fonciers des communautés locales.

   As part of the efforts to find sustainable solutions to complex land tenure issues, multi-stakeholder platforms (MSPs) create an inclusive forum where actors can discuss problems and propose solutions to improve governance of tenure and provide better access to natural resources. This publication highlights how MSPs at regional, national and local level demonstrate forward thinking, including innovative practices and approaches to respond to the above mentioned social challenges, for the benefit of all.

   Recién con la Constitución de 1920 las comunidades lograron su reconocimiento por el Estado peruano, iniciándose la protección de sus tierras para frenar el apetito de los hacendados criollos, régimen que cambió drásticamente en 1993. Pero la seguridad sobre las tierras comunales siguió, y sigue siendo aún un compromiso que nuestro Estado no ha honrado. Por el contrario, el saneamiento de las tierras comunales es un tema pendiente, que mantiene a las comunidades campesinas y nativas en condición de desventaja frente a inversionistas privados, proyectos estatales e incluso de invasores.

    LAND-at-scale is a land governance support program for developing countries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, which was launched in 2019. The aim of the program is to directly strengthen essential land governance components for men, women and youth that have the potential to contribute to structural, just, sustainable and inclusive change at scale in lower- and middle-income countries/regions/landscapes. The program is designed to scale successful land governance initiatives and to generate and disseminate lessons learned to facilitate further scaling.
