    An international workshop on Forest and Land Tenure Reform was held in Vientiane on 28-29 August, 2012. The workshop was hosted by the National Assembly of Lao PDR, with support from RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests through the Rights and Resources Initiatives (RRI). The key objectives of the workshop were:

    The workshop was attended by 89 participants representing government agencies, national assembly, civil society groups, and international organizations working in Lao PDR. In order to share experience of reforming forest tenure from other countries, resource persons were also invited from China, Nepal, Brazil and Vietnam.The key objective of the workshop was to continue the process of learning on forest land tenure reform from various countries, review and reflect on the current states of forest tenure in Lao PDR, and work out on pathways to forest tenure change.

    Eco-toilets (human urine and faecal matter collected separately) are one of the best ways to solve sanitation problem, and this practice also improves the environment and increases the food production. This study focuses on experimental demonstration of use of urine, wood ash and poultry droppings (PD) as a fertilizer in central Nepal and in Accra, Ghana. In Nepal, Fertilizer value of urine+ash was compared with animal manure and no-fertilization in the cultivation of radish, potato, broadleaf mustard, auliflower and cabbage.

    Traditionally, the users? organisations at local level are playing an important role for the management of natural resources by organizing the users. The Government of Nepal through its Water Resources Strategy 2002 and National Water Plan 2005 has emphasized a holistic approach in place of sectoral one for natural resources management at sub/basin level based on the principle of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). It envisages the creation of committee at the sub/basin level, which is lacking at present.
