Within the framework of the priorities and activities of NELGA, a study was planned on the need’s analysis on training, continuing education and Research in North Africa for implementing convenient strategies and programmes. The expected outcomes must reflect the reality of the problems related to various needs of the Northern Africa countries. The aim of the results is to develop programs enabling to meet the Governments and professionals needs in the capacity building required for any sustainable development strategy.
This paper presents how the active use and contextualisation of the principles of the
Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and
Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) by national stakeholders in
Mauritania and Tunisia contributed to changing the approach to tackling tenure challenges
in the two member countries of the Maghreb Arab Union.

This report assesses the legislation of Sudan relating to land tenure and administration (see the list in the Annex to this report) against the provisions of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (the VGGT). The assessment is structured along a set of indicators from the VGGT that were considered most relevant for the legal framework on governance of land tenure in Sudan.
LAND-at-scale is a land governance support program for developing countries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, which was launched in 2019. The aim of the program is to directly strengthen essential land governance components for men, women and youth that have the potential to contribute to structural, just, sustainable and inclusive change at scale in lower- and middle-income countries/regions/landscapes. The program is designed to scale successful land governance initiatives and to generate and disseminate lessons learned to facilitate further scaling.
