    Within the framework of the priorities and activities of NELGA, a study was planned on the need’s analysis on training, continuing education and Research in North Africa for implementing convenient strategies and programmes.     Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and
    Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) by national stakeholders in
    Mauritania and Tunisia contributed to changing the approach to tackling tenure challenges
    in the two member countries of the Maghreb Arab Union.

    Le foncier est une question à la fois stratégique et centrale dans les processus de développement, et pour cause : la terre avec ses immenses ressources qu’elle englobe, est le premier intrant de la production. A ce titre, elle permet de répondre aux enjeux multiples qui ont pour noms : sécurité alimentaire, emploi agricole surtout pour les jeunes, exportation, etc.

    C’est pourquoi la Commission de l’UEMOA s’est très tôt intéressée au foncier dans tous ses aspects, car étant une des questions au cœur du processus d’intégration communautaire.

    قدم هذا التقرير مراجعة قانونية " لمشروع القانون والذى يقوم باقتراح بعض الأحكام بشأن الممتلكات المنقولة للدولة، وذلك بموجب القانون رقم 4 لسنة 7911 (مشروع القانون)"، الذي نشرته وزارة العدل بالحكومة الليبية في مارس 2013م . ولا يعد هذا التقرير مقتصراً على مناقشة مشروع القانون المعنىّ، إذ يسلّط الضوء على القضايا الرئيسة المختصة بأي استرجاع، والذى من شأن القانون أن يعالجه. ويعتمد مشروع القانون في معالجته على أسس العدالة الاجتماعية وأفضل الممارسات الدولية المتعلقة  باسترجاع  الممتلكات، بما في ذلك التعويض.

    This report assesses the legislation of Sudan relating to land tenure and administration (see the list in the Annex to this report) against the provisions of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (the VGGT). The assessment is structured along a set of indicators from the VGGT that were considered most relevant for the legal framework on governance of land tenure in Sudan.

    To mitigate the disastrous consequences of COVID-19, IFAD has committed itself
    to supporting affected rural people in many countries, including Sudan, through the IFAD-established Rural Poor Stimulus Facility (RPSF). Additional support
    of US$747,650, requested by the Government of Sudan to help 5,000 families
    of small-scale farmers in the three states of Kordofan and in Sennar state,
    has been approved. This will contribute to mitigating the negative impacts of COVID-19 on small-scale producers.

    LAND-at-scale is a land governance support program for developing countries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, which was launched in 2019. The aim of the program is to directly strengthen essential land governance components for men, women and youth that have the potential to contribute to structural, just, sustainable and inclusive change at scale in lower- and middle-income countries/regions/landscapes. The program is designed to scale successful land governance initiatives and to generate and disseminate lessons learned to facilitate further scaling.

    Dust storms are capable of transporting sediment over thousands of kilometers, but due to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s proximity to the Sahara Desert, the region is one of the dustiest in the world. While natural sources such as the Sahara are the main contributors to dust storms in MENA, land-use changes and human-induced climate change has added anthropogenic sources as well.
