    Allotment gardens are quite common in many European countries. In particular, they are an important part of the urban space in Central and Eastern Europe. They served to improve the inhabitants’ physical and mental well-being during the communist period and relieved the family budget thanks to their own crops. The article analyzes the functioning of allotment gardens in Poland based on the example of the Tri-City, with particular emphasis on allotment gardens in a prestigious, attractive location.

    The zero-deforestation movement has gained considerable momentum as governments and companies enter into commitments to curb deforestation. The most innovative are multi-stakeholder initiatives, where governments and international organi- zations have joined with the private sector and civil society organizations in making commit- ments to reduce deforestation. These pledges have created opportunities for improved forest governance by envisaging the private sector at the centre of the movement.

    This new Guide describes the application of spatial technology to improve disaster risk management (DRM) within the aquaculture sector. DRM requires interrelated activities to ensure prevention, preparedness (including early warning), response and recovery for a wide range of natural, technological and complex disasters that can impact aquaculture operations and livelihoods.<p></p>Spatial technology refers to systems and tools that acquire, manage and analyse data that have geographic context.

    Supporting Implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests (VGGTs) is a programme that provides countries with a framework for best practices in tenurerelated policies, laws, regulations, strategies and practices. Its Phase 1 was implemented from October 2012 to June 2016 as a multi-donor programme overseen by a steering committee and managed by the VG-Tenure Secretariat hosted by FAO.
