L’objectif du présent rapport est d’offrir un cadre conceptuel permettant de faire face aux problèmes de sécurité alimentaire dans une situation de pénurie d’eau pour l’agriculture. Il a été préparé par une équipe de spécialistes de la FAO et de consultants dans le cadre du projet «Faire face à la pénurie d’eau – le rôle de l’agriculture», et a été examiné à l’occasion d’une réunion de consultation des experts organisée à la FAO, Rome, du 14 au 16 décembre 2009 sur le même sujet.

La publicación fue lanzada durenate el Simposio Internacional de Carbono Orgánico del Suelo (GSOC) que se llevó a cabo en la sede de la FAO (Roma, 21 a 23 de marzo de 2017). La publicación provee una revisión sobre los principales datos y hechos científicos sobre el estado actual del conocimiento así como las principales lagunas de conocimiento sobre Carbono Orgánico del Suelo. Realza cómo se puede implementar la información mejorada y las buenas prácticas para apoyar a eliminar el hambre, adapt arse a y mitigar el cambio climático así como lograr en general el desarrollo sostenible.
The publication was launched at the Global Symposium on Soil Organic Carbon (GSOC) held at FAO headquarters (Rome, 21-23 March 2017). It provides an overview to decision-makers and practitioners of the main scientific facts and information regarding the current knowledge and knowledge gaps on Soil Organic Carbon. It highlights how better information and good practices may be implemented to support ending hunger, adapting to and mitigating climate change and achieving overall sustainable developm ent.
Putting the voluntary guidelines on tenure into practice: a learning guide for civil society organizations is a learning guide which has been designed specifically to give civil society and grassroots organizations a deeper understanding of the VGGT. It provides civil society organizations with a methodology and a set of materials to undertake training on the VGGT with civil society actors from the grassroots to the national level. Trainees will learn how to apply the VGGT to actual tenure gover nance.
In many countries, pastoralism has historically been practiced in areas that are now partitioned by international boundaries. This is a major barrier to sustainable resource management and to pastoral development. However, there are examples from around the world of efforts to facilitate transboundary movements and transboundary ecosystem management by pastoralists. This report examines how pastoral mobility has been impacted by the creation of unnatural boundaries within their landscapes and how societies cope with these constraints through legal or informal arrangements.
