Since the 1960s new town developments within large metropolises have been widely adopted to decongest the city centres especially in Asian cities This paper provides a brief account of the liveability dimensions of two new townships developed in large metropolitan areas Senri New Town in Osaka and Purbachal New Town in Dhaka The study primarily draws on master plans of the two developments to identify how the components of the plans reflect the physical social functional and safety dimensions of a proposed liveability framework The methodology combines a review of masters plans with scholar

Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2021ChineLand desertification is a global environmental problem, leading to the deterioration of the ecological environment and is an issue that threatens humans. Hongsibu, located in Ningxia, northwest China, is a semi-desert area with the largest domestic single-site ecological resettlement area for poverty alleviation based on the wine industry. Here, we quantified the value of the ecosystem services of the wine industry in Hongsibu and used the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to quantitatively evaluate the comprehensive benefits of the wine industry for resolving desertification.

Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2021ChineLand degradation, especially natural forest land degradation (NFLD), is a severe environmental concern in China. This natural disaster itself and its derivative control policies have caused some impacts on surrounding farmers’ livelihood level and strategies, but the literature on the sustainable livelihood of different households in NFLD vulnerability is limited, and there is an urgent need to bridge the gap and conduct studies on the sustainable livelihood of Changting, Libo, Lixian, Menghai and Wuxi, the typical NFLD-prone areas in China.

Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2021ChineThe Han River Basin is a main agricultural production area and a water source for the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China. Over the past 20 years, human exploitation and ecological construction have disturbed the sustainability of land productivity in the Han River Basin.

Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2021ChineLand use in traditional village clustering areas often exhibits slight dynamic changes; however, significant hidden ecological hazards may be present in local settlements. There is still a lack of dynamic ecological risk assessments for the corresponding classification-based prevention strategies and landscape ecosystem attributes’ enhancement. Based on the land-use changes, this study integrated the ecosystem structure and function to explore the characteristics of the landscape ecological risk in traditional village clustering areas.

Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2022ChineUrban blue-green infrastructure (BGI) forms the basis of a regional ecosystem. Quantitative calculations can identify the weak points of a typical ecological environment, which is helpful for providing a basis for the spatial planning and ecological environment protection of developing cities. Currently, assessment of BGI ecosystem services focuses on local temperature, climate, and entertainment aesthetics, and the integrity of ecological indicators needs improvement.

Forests
Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2022ChineCarbon storage (CS) is strongly associated with climate change and ecosystem services. Herein, taking Foshan City, Guangdong Province, China as the study object, analysis was performed upon the potential impacts of the urban–rural relationship of CS by combining the Integrated Assessment of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs (InVEST) and the Patch Generation Land-use Simulation (PLUS) models. Based on three different development plans under regional policies, land-use/ land-cover (LULC) changes in Foshan City in 2035 were simulated.

Forests
Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2021ChineThe ecological environment is suffering from great human disturbance. Scientific assessment of landscape ecological risks can provide scientific guidance for land use management. This study focused on Chaoyang County in China, used ecological risk assessment methods to characterize the impact of land use/land cover (LUCC) change, and revealed the risk aggregation pattern with the help of spatial autocorrelation analysis. The results showed that ecological risk was increased from 2000 to 2010 but decreased from 2010 to 2018.

Forests
Publication évaluée par des pairsjanvier, 2022ChineForests are composed of landscape spatial units (patches) of different sizes, shapes, and characteristics. The forest landscape pattern and its trends are closely related to resistance to disturbance, restoration, stability, and the biodiversity of the forest landscape and directly influence the benefits and sustainable exploitation of forest landscape resources. Therefore, forest landscape patterns and the driving forces have increasingly attracted the attention of researchers.
