In Tanzania, ongoing land insecurity is a structural cause of food insecurity particularly for
pastoralists, agro-pastoralists and small-scale crop farmers leading to land use conflicts,
compromised access to resources including grazing and water and rangeland degradation.
Land tenure security and management can be improved through village land use planning (VLUP)
and land certification – namely the issuing of certificates of customary rights of occupancy

There is an increasing interest among researchers, practitioners and donors in using agricultural innovation system approaches to reach development outcomes. Limited practical experiences have been shared on the dynamics of these innovation processes and how project partners have dealt with that. The objective of this paper is therefore to share experiences from a smallholder livestock development project – the imGoats project in Mozambique – by reflecting on the dynamics of innovation processes in the project.

The aim of this workshop was to consider methods of immunisation against East Coast Fever (ECF) and other forms of T. parva infection using the infection and treatment method or infection without treatment, and to identify needs for further research to improve vaccine quality and suitability; to consider present and future demands for T. parva vaccine and how these can be met; to review recent progress in developing alternative vaccines for the control of theileriosis caused by T. parva, to consider related research needs, and to identify training and information needs.
