    Neste estudo multidisciplinar aproveitou-se os trabalhos de manejo e conservação dos solos e da água em microbacias hidrográ ficas, que foram realizados no estado do Paraná , no ú ltimo quartel do sé culo XX, para avaliar se o preç o da terra é sensí vel à s melhorias ambientais. Avaliou-se, atravé s de mé todos economé tricos, o Programa Paraná Rural, em trê s faixas de prioridades na sua forma de aç ã o: alta, mé dia e baixa prioridade. A partir dessas diferenç as, na aplicaç ã o do Programa, esta pesquisa revelou existir relaç ã o positiva entre o mercado de terras e o meio ambiente.

    The manual systems of maintaining land records in India are as diverse as the country itself. The traditional methods have been changing over the years in each state according to local practices and traditions. The procedure for recording transfer and ownership of lands, shares and inheritance is generally based on a particular Identity number for each plot of land. Revenue assessment and agricultural yield related data are also recorded against that specific identification number.

    The biggest challenges in establishing timber plantations in Indonesia concern a range of social aspects, in particular those dealing with people living inside concessions and in the areas surrounding plantations. CIFOR’s research shows that a sustainable supply of timber may be achievable through partnership schemes that encourage companies and local communities to work together in sharing both the benefits and risks of investing in plantations.

    The Dutch Works Council from an Institutional Economics Point of View: An Efficient Solution to the Governance Structure Problem?

    The aim of this paper is to explain, with the aid of institutional economic theories, why Dutch works councils may contribute to an efficient governance structure. To this end, in this study a sketch will be given of the existing structure, in which the particular Dutch two-tier system plays an important role. After a short discussion of the property rights theory, transaction costs theory and the principal-agent theory, these theories will be applied to the Dutch corporate governance structure and more specifically to employee participation rights.
