This report is a shorter version of World agriculture: towards 2015/2030, FAO's latest assessment of the long-term outlook for the world's food supplies, nutrition and agriculture. It summarizes the projections, distills the messages and presents them for the generalist. The projections cover supply and demand for the major agricultural commodities and sectors, including fisheries and forestry. This analysis forms the basis for a more detailed examination of other factors, such as nutrition and undernourishment, and the implications for international trade.
La présente publication «Situation des ressources génétiques forestières du Niger» est issue d’un rapport national présenté à l’Atelier sous-régional FAO/IPGRI/CIRAF sur la conservation, la gestion, l’utilisation durable et la mise en valeur des ressources génétiques forestières de la zone sahélienne (Ouagadougou, 22-24 sept. 1998).
Ce rapport est un résumé des résultats présentés lors de la quatorzième réunion du Sous-Comité ouest et centre africain de corrélation des sols pour la mise en valeur des terres, qui s'est tenue à Abomey, République du Bénin du 9 au 13 octobre 2000. Les discussions ont porté principalement su le thème de l'utilisation de la Base de réference mondiale pour les ressources en sols comme instrument pour la sécurité alimentaire en Afrique. Une dizaine de communications nationales et internationales sur ce sujet sont incluses, ainsi qu'un compte rendu des visites de terrain.

This report contains the proceedings of the first stakeholders meeting held by the Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA) project, which aims to develop and validate quantitative reproducible assessment methods to make them widely available and to demonstrate and build capacity for their application in teh dryland areas of the world.
Section 1 will examine current debates around poverty, vulnerability and livelihood issues related to access to natural resources. Section 2 will describe the main features of the sustainable livelihoods approaches and relate them to current thinking about access to natural resources. Section 3 will describe and categorise the different types of problems and opportunities that the rural poor face with respect to access to natural resources.
The management of conflict over land and natural resources is a very broad issue and there is a growing literature on techniques that have potential for use in this field. At the moment, the Land Tenure Service of FAO’s Rural Development Division is working towards achieving a deeper understanding of the current methods and practices in land conflict management and is gathering cases from all over the world to ascertain the techniques used and the results achieved. This edition of Land Reform, Land Settlement and Cooperatives, prepared with the strong support of Ms A.
