It captures in one document the SC’s judgement, the course it has taken there after and the policy options that prevail. The document draws from information collected from government departments in several states & UTs, case papers and media reports to understand what is the status of implementation, the challenges in the realisation of the SC’s commons Judgment and where the strengths lie.

    The Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) supported a scoping study to understand the range of post CFR issues in the central Indian landscape,  especially in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha. It also proactively sought to draw experiences from states such as Maharashtra and Kerala where established mechanisms related to post CFR issues have been implemented through various partnerships.

    Imageries of Remote Sensing (RS) satellites provide data on the temporal and spatial status  of  natural  resources.  Repetitive  coverage  helps  in  understanding  various changing  physical  processes  in  a  particular  area  as  also  in  monitoring  closely,  the changes taking place across different areas.  The availability of data at different spatial resolutions (as coarse as 1 km or as fine as 1 m) provides the means of observing the land simultaneously at  micro as well as macro levels.

    In finding an answer to this,  This explores  the potential role of  the Commons (land and  water resources)  in strengthening the  viability  of the agro‐pastoral production  systems and the resilience of  household livelihoods.

The proposed Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill offers a unique chance to lay a sound basis for responsible extraction of the country’s natural resources. A series of amendments in India’s legal framework over the past two decades have opened the mining sector to private investments. It was hoped that this would support economic development in some of India’s poorest states.
