    Torrential floods are the most frequent natural catastrophic events in Serbia, causing the loss of human lives and huge material damage, both in urban and rural areas. The analysis of the intra-annual distribution of maximal discharges aided in noticing that torrential floods have a seasonal character.     The goal of the research presented in this paper is to examine economic efficiency and financial feasibility of investments in agricultural land, from the agricultural producer’s viewpoint and to contribute successfully to the formulation of the answer to the question if this investment is justified under analysed conditions.     The influence of application of various soil ameliorants (lime, manure and phosphorus fertilizers) to increase fertility of extremely acid soil type Pseudogley was investigated. The greatest fertility increase of studied soil was obtained by combined use of lime, manure and complex NPK fertilizer. In this variant, pH value, content of easy – available P and available Ca increased for 2.0pH units, 3.5 mg 100 g-1 and 39 mg 100 g-1 , respectively in relate to control sample.
