The third meeting of the Greek-Turkish Joint Committee on environmental cooperation was held in Athens with the participation of officials and experts from both sides. The list of delegations is attached herewith. The fields of energy, marine pollution, pollution prevention of the river Evros/Meric and desertification were identified among the other issues in the agenda.
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) - currently ratified by 187 countries - is the only human rights treaty that deals specifically with rural women (Art. 14). FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) and other development partners are working together with countries to prepare Voluntary Guidelines that will provide practical guidance to states, civil society, the private sector, donors and development specialists on the responsible governance of tenure. By setting out principles and internationally accepted standards for responsible practices, the Voluntary Guidelines will provide a framework and point of reference that stakeholders can use when developing their own policies and actions.
As Diretrizes Voluntárias sobre a Governança Responsável da Terra, dos Recursos Pesqueiros e Florestais no contexto da Segurança Alimentar Nacionall visam promover a segurança do direito de posse, garantir o acesso equitativo à terra, pescas e florestas como um meio para erradicar a fome e a pobreza, apoiar o desenvolvimento sustentável e melhorar o meio ambiente. As orientações foram oficialmente aprovadas pelo Comité de Segurança Alimentar Mundial, em 11 de maio de 2012.
Resumo
Este projecto de investigação-acção pretende analisar em que medida os actuais quadros legais e
institucionais actuais promovem ou dificultam uma efectiva governança fundiária centrada nas
pessoas e nas suas comunidades, o que equivale a analisar, também, a sua relação / integração no
contexto de outros eventuais mecanismos regulatórios e de concertação politica e social vinculada à

Whereas in the Caucasus region privatization and first property registration were the main challenges, in the former Republic of Yugoslavia, essential objectives were the return of collectivized, confiscated property through restitution or (re)distribution, as well as the updating and harmonization of traditional land registry and cadaster systems and their conversion to modern systems.
