In an opening vignette to an otherwise insightful article, Carol M. Rose (2003) comparespeople who hold intellectual property rights to poor villagers in India. They put effort and timeinto developing small but productive properties, only to have the wild tiger or rogue elephant ofthe public domain trample them or eat them up. AW3Dsup(TM), the world's most precise global 3D map service, became the world's first five-meter-resolution 3D map covering all global land spaces in April 2016 by using Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS). In addition to five-meter-resolution global map, enhanced service offers a higher-resolution 3D map at half-meter or two-meter resolution, both of which are offered on an on-demand basis using commercial high-resolution satellite imagery. This paper introduces the project history, technical characteristics, service contents, use cases and future prospects of AW3Dsup(TM).

The recent increase in the number of tourists has raised serious concerns about grassland degradation by tourism activities in Inner Mongolia. Thus, we evaluated the effects of tourism activities on the vegetation and soil in Hulunbuir grassland. We identified all the plant species, measured the number and height of plants and plant coverage rate, calculated species diversity, and estimated above-ground biomass in the used plot and the non-use plot. We also examined soil hardness, and soil physical and chemical properties in both plots.
