    O MIMES – Multi-scale Integrated Model of the Earth Sytems Ecological Services é o primeiro modelo global a relacionar a dinâmica entre a tecnologia, produção e bem-estar econômico e os bens e serviços ecossistêmicos do sistema dinâmico da Terra, de forma espacializada. É um “meta-modelo” que representa uma síntese de uma simplificação dos diversos modelos globais dinâmicos existentes nas ciências naturais e sociais em um nível intermediário de complexidade. O objetivo do MIMES é simular o sistema integrado da Terra e avaliar a dinâmica e os valores dos serviços dos ecossistemas.

    The study aimed to analyze the performance indicators of self-sustainability, taking into account their potential for production in irrigated areas located in the basin Baixo Acaraú and Curu. The survey is a survey of information available on the perimeters studied by merging the existing bibliographies and materials with statistical data available. We evaluated its performance through the analysis of indicator values for the year 2008, starting at data provided by DNOCS, and the association of irrigation districts of the perimeters.

    O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar o estudo comparativo de retorno de investimentos em três áreas de terras arrendadas, de diferentes tamanhos, localizadas na região noroeste do Paraná, mais especificamente no município de Umuarama. Nesta região de solo arenoso, denominado Arenito Caiuá, tem-se presenciado, um crescimento significativo no setor de agronegócio. E, este vem se destacando em todo Brasil, pela alta competitividade internacional, devido aos baixos custos de produção, à crescente demanda e ao território disponível.

    The vegetation cover plays a key role in protection and conservation of natural resources, particularly concerning soils. This study had as objective to analyze space and time dimensions of anthropic influence on the vegetation cover in part of the semi-arid region of the Ceará State, Brazil. LANDSAT TM-5 satellite images of 1985 and 1994 combined with geoprocessing techniques were used to verify the hypothesis of intensification of environmental degradation. Maps of the vegetation cover, land use, soils, and hydrography were elaborated.

    The objective of this study was to analyze the growth of tree species planted in a topographic gradient in an area degraded for the construction of the dam of Camargos Hydroeletric plant, MG. At 155 months after planting, three transects following the slope, 15 m wide and variable length were allocated, subdivided in parcels of 12 x 15 m along the topographic gradient. Plants with diameter at breast height (DBH) 5 cm were identified and measured (DBH and height).
