    Recent studies explored the suitability of using Geographical Information System to support decisional processes in the field of risk assessment & management. In particular, the elaboration of GIS ¿risk-maps¿ has been recognized as functional to two objectives: connecting decision-makers and stakeholders during decisional processes and communicating risk to non-experts audiences. In both cases, the use GIS results in increased transparency, as it gives clear ground and evidences to risk-related decisions.

    This article sheds light on a series of events that triggered escalating tensions over land and resources in the coastal communities of Lagos, Nigeria. This article provides an in-depth analysis of Nigeria’s laws on expropriation and the processes of acquiring land and compensating landholders in the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) case.     This paper introduces enforcement costs and farmer noncompliance into the economic analysis of the USDA conservation program on highly erodible lands. A model of heterogeneous producers is developed to determine the economic causes of farmer noncompliance with the provisions of the conservation program. In addition, the paper determines the enforcement policy design that can induce conservation compliance and examines the effectiveness of the current enforcement policy in deterring producer noncompliance.

De un lado, una concepción agraria, aplicada sectorialmente en la agricultura como eje del desarrollo de las zonas rurales; de otro lado, una concepción territorial, en la que la diversificación de actividades (agrarias y no agrarias) es su principal eje de actuación, y el territorio su ámbito de aplicación. Entre esas dos concepciones giran hoy los debates en torno al desarrollo rural, tanto a nivel de la UE como de los Estados miembros.
