    The paper deals with the establishment of the coppice and coppice-with-standards research object under the project Biodiversity and Target Management of Endangered and Protected Species in Coppices and Coppices-with-Standards Included in the System of NATURA 2000. It summarizes reasoning which preceded the selection of the site and provides a detailed description of the methodology of experimental site establishment.

    A wide range of apple cultivars representing Malus sp. germplasm were collected from southern part of Serbia, where this specie has been in cultivation for a long time. Data for twelve traits were collected for 18 cultivars for three consecutive years. Cultivars differed in phenology, fruit weight, yield and chemical composition were evaluated. Correlations were identified among phenological and compositional traits.

    The main aim of the article is to understand the trend in production and consumption of vegetables in Yemen within the period 1995-2009, and to understand the distribution of the production in the country by governorate. The production of vegetables is concentrated in six governorates (Hodeidah, Sana'a, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz and Marib) where it represents 73.09 percent of the total production. A significant positive trend in the vegetable production was recorded in the period studied.

    In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was presented an evaluation of organic soil properties changing in the course of long-term agricultural use according to the data of a long-term field experiment founded in 1960 by the member of the Academy of Sciences S.G. Skoropanov and carried out by Polesye experimental station of Ameliorative Agriculture and Meadow Cultivation (Luninetsky district, Brest region).

    In this research the potential of grain production increase in Latvia is analysed. The land use analysis show that even in some nearest years it is possible to increase grain production by 400-500 thousand tons compared by 2010 level, but in 10 years period – by 1 million tons or more. This is due to increase both areas and yield. It is assessed during of the research that price above 90 Lats/t for wheat and above 80 Lats/t for barley, rye and oats stimulates grain production. Also some additional state regulation measures are recommended in the research.

    Urban construction is a continuous process. Plans and concepts get changed, but the idea of homogeneous development is crucial, it should go together with the surrounding processes. The Development Strategy of Kuldiga is: “… to conserve its unique cultural heritage – the complex of old town and nature...”, as it is put in the Development Programme of Kuldiga [1]. The task of the development planning is to create a homogeneous environment in the old town of Kuldiga by providing economical use of resources, respect for local traditions and good use of land.

    This paper examines biofuels from an economic perspective and evaluates the merits of promoting biofuel production in the context of the policies’ multiple objectives, life-cycle implications, pecuniary externalities, and other unintended consequences. The policy goals most often cited are to reduce fossil fuel use and to lower greenhouse gas emissions. But the presence of multiple objectives and various indirect effects complicates normative evaluation.
