    The present Act introduces substantial amendments to the Land Titles Act. In particular, it amends section 3 by adding the following definitions in alphabetical order:“electronic instrument”,”prescribed form”, “subscriber”; it adds after section 17 a paragraph dealing with electronic instruments; it rewords section 21 concerning registered land.

    The present Act introduces some amendments to the Farm Lands Ownership Act. In particular, it amends section 6 by striking out "vice-chairman" substitutin it with "vice-chair". Furthermore, it amends section 13 dealing with protection from liability.

    The present Act introduces some amendments to the Land Titles Act (Chapter L-4). In particular, it repeals section 3; as well as section 5 which shall read as follows: “Deputy Registrar. The Deputy Registrar may do and perform all the duties required by this Act to be done or performed by the Registrar.” Furthermore, it adds a chapter after section 43 dealing with proof of identity; and one after section 50 concerning refusal to register.

    The present Act lays down provisions relating to land survey. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein, such as “ascertainable point”, “broken concession”, “broken lot”, “irregular lot”, “regular lot”, “land”, “lost corner”, “last as side line”, “proofline”. Article 2 establishes that no survey of land for the purpose of defining, locating or describing any line, boundary or corner of a parcel of land is valid unless made by a surveyor or under the personal supervision of a surveyor.

    The Parties have agreed to cooperate in the following forms: (a) exchange of officials, experts and representatives of local communities of the North; (b) exchange of information and documentation; (c) organization of joint symposia, conferences and seminars for experts; (d) exchange and transfer of technologies; (e) joint research and development (art. 2). A Joint Russian-Canadian Commission shall be set up for the purpose of the implementation of the present Agreement (art. 4).

    This Act regulates the (grant of) administration of real and personal estates of deceased persons. The Act consists of 51 sections divided into 5 Parts.An application for the grant or revocation of probate or administration shall be made through the Registrar in the prescribed form. No grant shall be made by the Registrar until a contention is disposed of, or it appears to the Registrar that a grant ought not to be made without the direction of the Court.

The Act deals with, amongst others, matters such as the continuation of the Association of Nova Scotia Land Surveyors, its powers, acquisition and alienation of property, election zones, holding register for inspection, right of entry on land and liability, offences, etc.

    The purpose of the present Act is to regulate the duties due in land transfer. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein such as, “consideration”, “corporation not resident in Canada”; “land”, “recreational property”, “transfer”. Section 4 establishes that every transfer made after 11 May 1976 relating to land situated in Quebec requires the transferee to pay duties at the rate of 33 per cent of the value of the consideration.
