    This Act, governing forestry contains, after amendments made to it, virtually all statute law relating to forestry in the Great Britain.     The Convention shall cover the Alpine region, as described in the Annex. The Contracting Parties shall take appropriate measures among others on population and culture, regional planning, prevention of air pollution, soil conservation and water management. The Contracting Parties shall pursue a comprehensive policy for the preservation and protection of the Alps by applying the principles of prevention, and cooperation, through the prudent and sustained use of resources.

    The principal Regulations provide for payment of aid to farmers who undertake for five years to permit members of the public to have access to an area of set-aside land. They implement in part Council Directive (EC) No. 2078/92 on agricultural production methods compatible with the requirements for protection of the environment and maintenance of the countryside. The new section here added provides that the Minister shall not accept any application for aid in respect of any period beginning on or after 15th January 2000.

    This Law makes provision for the legal registration of land, buildings, structures and other real property ,the status of the Real Property Register of the Republic of, the establishment of this register, its record-keeping, reorganization and liquidation, the rights, duties and liability of the institutions managing the Real Property Register. Keeping of the Real Property Register shall be the responsibility of county governors. The Real Property Register shall be kept by district and municipal subdivisions of county governor administration.

    Section 43C provides an exemption from landfill tax for the disposal of "qualifying material" which is used to restore to use a landfill site. Subsections (2) and (3) define restoration as work that is required by a planning consent, waste management licence or a resolution authorizing disposal of waste on or in the land, to be carried out after the completion of waste disposal operations. Section 44A provides an exemption from landfill tax for the disposal of "qualifying material" which is used to fill existing or former quarries. Certain conditions must be fulfilled.

    This Law defines the concept of concession, objects of concessions and spheres of business activity for which concessions may be granted, the procedure for granting concessions, the rights and duties of government institutions of the Republic of Lithuania and those of enterprises of the Republic of Lithuania and foreign countries which operate on the basis of concession contracts.     Part I of the Regulations defines terms used in the Regulations. Part II prescribes the form of tree preservation orders and the procedure for their making, confirmation, variation and revocation. The prescribed form is set out in the Schedule to the Regulations. In principal, the consent of the local planning authority is required before any tree protected by the Order may be cut down, topped, lopped, uprooted, damaged or destroyed. Part III of the Regulations makes special provision in relation to trees in conservation areas.
