9th Capitalization Meeting of the EU Land Governance Programme

 3 NOVEMBER 2020, 10.00 – 11.30 CET (9.00 – 10.30 GMT)

Project implementation in all countries and at the transversal level have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Anecdotal evidence from many countries suggest that the pandemic has had tremendous effect on tenure rights and tenure governance. Project implementers of the in-country projects have reported that government-imposed restrictions with respect to movement of people, travel restrictions and closure of borders, social distancing and gatherings involving large numbers of people in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus, have affected project implementation activities. The active project countries that will participate in the 9th meeting are: Cameroon, Colombia, Ghana (two projects), Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Sudan and Uganda.

The last session of the meeting will be organized as a webinar on COVID-19 and tenure security. The objective is to increase knowledge on the impact of the pandemic on tenure rights, tenure security and tenure administration/management and to capacitate the project implementation teams with the requisite skills such that in post-COVID-19 era tenure rights will be more secured, and governance improved.
