The Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) provides free internet access to Australasian legal materials. AustLII's broad public policy agenda is to improve access to justice through better access to information. To that end, we have become one of the largest sources of legal materials on the net, with over four million searchable documents.

These Regulations, made under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, consisting of 117 sections divided into ten Parts and completed by seven Schedules, establish the provisions relating to land including the exemption of Aboriginal lands from the payment of rates; Local Aboriginal Land Councils; New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council; Investment of money in New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council Account; Honesty and disclosure of interests including codes of conduct; Administration of Councils; Dispute resolution; Land dealings, etc.

The major part of the provisions amend provisions of the Aboriginal and Torres Straith Islander Commission Act and insert new provisions in that Act in order to provide for the establishment of a Corporation and a Fund which are to assist Aboriginal persons and Torres Strait islanders in acquiring and managing of land.

The Act, consisting of 47 sections divided into six Parts, provides for the appointment of the Commissioner for Soil Conservation and soil conservation officers. For the purposes of this Act, there shall be a council, to be known as the Soil Conservation Advisory Council.
