The Sustainable Land Management in the Qaraoun Catchment project aims at increasing management efficiency of arable land and rangelands and the expansion of the area under forests through land use plans, buffer zones, and riparian strips.

Provide technical assistance and monitoring of We Effect supported activities within the framework of the SACAU programe, including organisational development, establishment of regional platform for nation land rights based CSO, cotton and dairy associations and regional trainings on lobby and principled negotiations.

1.5 billion people in more than 100 countries are affected by desertification and 42% of the world’s poor live in these areas. 12 million hectares of land are lost by desertification every year. The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) links sustainable land management to social and economic development to achieve its goal of combating desertification/land degradation and mitigating the effects of drought.
