The Foundation for Community Initiatives (FCI) was founded in 2004 as a community based organization in Grand Bassa County, Liberia, by a group of trained development workers and human rights activists trained by Development Education Network – Liberia (DEN-L). The Development Education Network-Liberia (DEN-L) runs the “Development Education Leadership Teams in Actions” (DELTA) Training, which provides leadership, development and advocacy training for NGOs in Liberia.

Founded in 1982, ENDA Pronat promotes climate resilient and sustainable rural development in Senegal by accompanying local communities, especially women and youth, to gain and maintain control over their lands and resources and use these sustainably for future generations. APWLD developed from dialogues among Asia Pacific women lawyers, social scientists and activists, which began at the 1985 Third World Forum on Women, held in Nairobi, Kenya. The women participating in the dialogues recognised that while law is used as an instrument of state control over resources, rights and even women’s bodies, it can also be used to help effect political and socio-economic changes in our societies.

Vision

ALRD envisions a Bangladesh where upholding the rights of the citizen is the cornerstone of the State and where the State is pro-actively pursuing the promotion and strengthening of the rights of poor and the marginalized, including the most vulnerable of the society; landless peasants, indigenous peoples, women and religious and other minority communities. ALRD further aspires for a Bangladesh that adopts secularism as key guiding principle and gender equity and social justice are considered as key objectives of all its undertakings.
