The 15th cycle of the Equator Initiative aims to identify innovative approaches and solutions led by Indigenous Peoples and local communities in three categories.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) led Equator Initiative releases a global call for nominations for the Equator Prize 2024. The nominations are open through 26 February 2024.

While world leaders attending COP28 have recognized the important role of indigenous communities in the fight against climate change, most governments have failed to live up to their commitments.

El anuncio fue hecho este domingo 17 de octubre por el príncipe Guillermo de Inglaterra y Catalina, duquesa de Cambridge​​ y The Royal Foundation, en una actividad en simultáneo en los 15 países seleccionados como finalistas globales, tres por cada una de las cinco categorías definidas.

COLÓN, Panamá — Hace aproximadamente 3 millones de años, salió del océano una masa terrestre y creó un istmo que conectó lo que ahora se conoce como América del Norte y del Sur. Hoy en día, el centro de ese puente de tierra es el país de Panamá, el cual presume de tener más diversidad de aves que cualquier otro país de América Central, pero cuyas selvas tropicales están sufriendo el impacto de la urbanización y la cría de ganado, lo que resulta en deforestación y contaminación del agua potable.

O CNPq foi criado pela Lei nº 1.310, de 15 de janeiro de 1951, com a denominação de Conselho Nacional de Pesquisas. Na ocasião, o art. 1º, §1º dessa lei atribuiu ao conselho personalidade jurídica própria e o subordinou diretamente à Presidência da República. Posteriormente, a Lei nº 6.129, de 6 de novembro de 1974 transformou o Conselho Nacional de Pesquisas no atual Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico e reformulou sua configuração jurídica, atribuindo-o personalidade jurídica de direito privado, sob a forma de fundação.

The Alianza Territorial Mapuche (PuLofMapuXawvn ) is one of the grassroots organizations based in Gulu Mapu, the Chilean side of Wallmapu. The ATM’s core mission is the full defence of the Mapuche’s inherent rights, especially concerning the protection of their territory and natural environment. ATM is similar to an NGO in the sense that the organization is not registered under Chilean law. The ATM covers different territories of the Mapuche Nation and is involved in several communities that feel they represent the spirit of the organization.
