This How-to-do Note (HTDN) on Gender and Pastoralism complements the IFAD Toolkit along with the 2018 HTDN on Pastoralism, which highlights the importance of gender in pastoral production systems.
This HTDN builds on these prior introductions by highlighting important issues and the tools to use to address them. It is designed for country programme teams, consultants and technical advisors, with the objective of providing guidance for designing projects with gender-sensitive interventions targeted at empowering pastoralist women so as to achieve more equitable development.
