Members of Parliament have condemned government’s move, saying it’s suspect and could fuel land grabbing. They are vowing to oppose the amendment.





Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Betty Amongi will soon bring to parliament an amendment to the land act that seeks to make it easier for government take over private land for national development projects like roads and other infrastructure.   

The minister told NTV that says the current law which allows negotiation and compensation of the land owner before the project takes off, slows down government programmes.
