The Open Data Charter is a collaboration between governments and organizations working to open up data based on a shared set of Principles. With 73 government adopters and 53 organizations endorsers, our goal is to embed open data as a central ingredient to achieving better solutions to the most pressing policy challenges of our time.

The Land Portal Foundation and the Open Data Charter are developing an Open Up Guide on Land Governance for use by governments, particularly in developing countries. This work follows up an online workshop in March 2020, subsequent online discussions and a recent publication focusing on the role of open land data in the fight against corruption.

It is proposed that the Open up Guide will set out good policies and practices on land governance data use, key data types, metadata, standards, governance frameworks, if available, and point to existing gaps or challenges.

During this closed workshop the two organizations will present the findings related to the research project, discuss challenges and next steps.
