Naming


Chulalongkorn University was established in 1917 by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) who named it after his father, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), who laid the foundations for modern education in Thailand.

RECOFTC


RECOFTC is derived from an abbreviated form of the organization's legal name, Regional Community Forestry Training Center for Asia and the Pacific. Formerly the organization was known as RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests.


 


Displacement Solutions (DS) works with climate displaced persons, communities, governments and the UN to find rights-based land solutions to climate displacement. DS also works to empower displaced people and refugees to exercise their right to return and have restored to them their original homes, lands and properties through reliance on the right to restitution. DS works together with and on behalf of people who have been displaced not only by conflict, forced eviction or other human rights abuses, but also natural disaster, climate change or other circumstances beyond their control.

The Thai Society of Higher Education Institutes on the Environment (TSHE) was founded in 2005, with aims to develop academic standards and environment personnel. To fulfill the objectives of the society, more than 15 Thai universities that offer courses on the environment have contributed to the activities of the TSHE. The activities include the following:

1. Developing the Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, (TQF:HEd 1)

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been colonized by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to the establishment of a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US treaty ally in 1954 after sending troops to Korea and later fighting alongside the US in Vietnam.

In 2008, Kepa established an office in Bangkok to initiate its programme in the Mekong Region - Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. In 2010, the Thai authorities gave the official permit for Kepa to operate a regional office. In september 2015 Kepa board decided to close the Mekong office due to the budget cuts by the government of Finland. Kepa Mekong has closed its doors by the end of January in 2016.

The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (public organization) (hereafter "SAC") is an non-profit academic institution that was initially established by Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1991 in commemoration of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's 36th birthday.  The SAC was established in Her Royal Highness's honor and seeks to fulfill her wish to establish and develop a national institution responsible for the systematic gathering, processing and servicing of anthropological data.

The Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) is a regional, intergovernmental and autonomous organisation. It was established on 6 July 1979 at the initiative of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations with support from several other UN bodies and donors. The Centre came into being to meet the felt needs of the developing countries at that time as an institution for promoting integrated rural development in the region.


 

The Border Consortium (TBC), a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, is an alliance of partners working together with displaced and conflict-affected people of Burma/Myanmar to address humanitarian needs and to support community-driven solutions in pursuit of peace and development.


Earth Systems Mekong provides consulting, project management and research and development capabilities in the environmental sector within the Mekong River Basin (Lao PDR, Cambodia, Thailand, Southern China and Vietnam). We seek and implement innovative and effective solutions to environmental problems; and offer a high quality, objective and value-adding service that reflects environmental expectations of the present and anticipates those of the future.
