Junte-se à Fundação Ford, à Land Portal Foundation, à Tenure Facility e à Fundação Thomson Reuters para um webinário no dia 22 de abril, Dia da Terra. Este webinário oferecerá uma oportunidade para rever o relatório "Governança Florestal pelos Povos Indígenas e Tribais" da FAO e da FILAC, e seus principais argumentos. Ele discutirá como os governos podem avançar no reconhecimento formal dos direitos territoriais dos povos indígenas e tribais e suas florestas que ainda não receberam tal reconhecimento, enquanto se chega a um acordo com as autoridades tradicionais indígenas e tribais sobre regras relacionadas ao planejamento territorial e ao manejo florestal, bem como coordenar ações para garantir que tais regras sejam respeitadas. Também debaterá como os planos globais e nacionais para evitar o desmatamento, a degradação florestal e as emissões de carbono nos territórios indígenas e tribais devem garantir condições de vida seguras e canalizar novos investimentos para apoiar a subsistência tradicional. Este webinário será uma sessão de 90 minutos que incluirá um painel de discussão e uma sessão de perguntas e respostas com o público. O webinário será realizado em inglês e será interpretado simultaneamente em espanhol, francês e português.

Este evento é o primeiro de uma série de webinários organizados sob a série "Diálogos sobre a Terra", uma iniciativa da Tenure Facility, Land Portal, Ford Foundation, e Thomson Reuters Foundation que promove a importância de reconhecer a propriedade legal dos Povos Indígenas e comunidades locais como um pré-requisito para alcançar as metas nacionais e internacionais de governança florestal, segurança alimentar, mitigação do clima, desenvolvimento econômico e direitos humanos.
