The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) - currently ratified by 187 countries - is the only human rights treaty that deals specifically with rural women (Art. 14). Adopted in 1979 by the United Nations Generally Assembly, entered into force in 1981. The Convention defines discrimination against women as follows:

This Act makes provision for the payment of compensation for withholding of property by persons acting in collusion with tenants and for the recovery of non-paid rent. The Act also makes provision for the renewal of leases without the surrender of land.

This Act establishes the National Monuments Board as a body corporate. The Board shall recommend to the Minister the declaration of any monument as a national monument and shall manage and preserve national monuments. If a monument is situated on land not belonging to the Government, a declaration shall be made in accordance with the procedure specified in this Act.

These Regulations are made under the Adjudication of Title Decree and prescribe, for purposes of the Decree, costs of survey referred to in section 26. The costs of survey at such rate as may be prescribed shall be borne by the owner of the land adjudicated and constitute, until paid, a charge in favour of the Government on the land adjudicated.

This Act provides rules for the carrying out of cadastral surveys of the island of Mahé and of such other islands as may be approved by the Minister. Any person appointed by the President as cadastral surveyors shall have all the rights and privileges of a land surveyor licensed under the Land Survey Act.

These Regulations determine fees for applications for sanction for the purchase of immovable property under the provisions of section 3(1)(a) of the Immovable Property (Transfer Restriction) Act and applications for sanction to lease any immovable property or any rights therein under the provisions of section 3(1)(b) of the Act.
