The Viana Administration will deliver plots of land for selfconstruction to some 18,000 families living in areas of risk or in very degraded houses. This measure aims to help rehousing families living in "terrible conditions of habitability".
"The allotments will be given to the residents who live near the ravines, tension basins and in roadside huts of Zango," said Barnabé Raimundo, assistant municipal administrator for the technical area and infrastructure, in declarations to Novo Jornal.
He said that the plots will benet "families that live in areas of risk, in terrible conditions of habitability and that need to be relocated", with the objective of "not losing more human lives".
Eighteen thousand families have already been identied and the land will begin to be delivered in the next few days, he said.
Barnabé Raimundo explained that the Viana Administration has already approved two plots of land in Zango, one in the urban district of Baía and another in the urban district of Vila Flor.
Most of the families that will be relocated live in houses made of sheet metal near the Zango 0 road to Zango 4, he added, stating that these are "the priority situations" that will be addressed in the rst phase.
"Then we will attend other people who live at risk in other areas of the municipality," he admitted.
He also revealed that the municipal administration is working in partnership with private parties tomake the project possible.
