À Madagascar, le Programme de Gestion durable de la faune sauvage (ou Sustainable Wildlife Management «SWM» Programme) est mis en œuvre autour du Parc Naturel Makira pour promouvoir la conservation de la biodiversité et améliorer les conditions de vie des populations.
En particulier, le projet soutient le développement du petit élevage piscicole, afin de réduire la dépendance vis-à-vis des espèces sauvages menacées en offrant d’autres sources de protéines et d’augmenter les revenus des ménages, facilitant ainsi l’accès à la viande domestique.
