The Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) analyses economic, social and political processes of change in the agricultural and food sector, and in rural areas. The geographic focus covers the enlarging EU, transition regions of Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, as well as Central and Eastern Asia.

The central motivation of the BonaRes Centre (Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung GmbH – UFZ) is the transfer of existing and newly generated knowledge about soil functions into scientifically based decision support tools for soil management in the context of a sustainable bioeconomy. In future, it should be possible to make decisions on soil management options based on current scientific knowledge. This should protect soils with their diverse functions and steer their sustainable use as a bio-economic production factor.

It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. Nine German peace and development organizations run the CPS together with local partners. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is funded by the German Government.  CPS experts support people on the ground in their commitment for dialogue, human rights and peace on a long-term basis.  Currently, about 350 international CPS experts are active in 45 countries.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit) is the foundation for liberal politics in the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to promote the goal of making the principle of freedom valid for the dignity of all people and in all areas of society, both in Germany and abroad. With the safeguarding and the development of its statutory projects (civic education and dialogue, sponsorship of the talented, research and political consultation, archive-work), the Friedrich Naumann Foundation wants to contribute to shaping the future.
