The Land Portal Foundation is a non-for-profit organization based in the Netherlands dedicated to supporting the efforts of the rural poor to gain equitable access to land by addressing the fragmentation of information resources on land.  We believe access to information is crucial to achieve good land governance and to secure land rights for vulnerable people. Our mission is to build an information ecosystem for land governance that supports better informed decision and policy making at national and international levels. Our belief is that within a functioning and inclusive information ecosystem data, both information and the diversity of perspectives become more visible and accessible to a much larger audience.  Ultimately, this significantly increases the chances that the information reaches target audiences in a way that contributes to securing people’s land rights. 

The Land Portal website brings together content from over 1,000 partner organizations all over the world.


Justification and Purpose of the Assignment

Land Portal Foundation graphic design is a crucial component of optimizing our identity all channels and has been key to building a professional brand. Our consistent i marketing collateral has enabled our brand to be easily recognizable and allowed our stakeholders toquickly get familiar with what we have to offer. Our graphic design is in part a source of our credibility.  We rely on strong visual foundations to communicate confidence in our work and in our expertise.This is why we seek the support of a  Graphic Designer.

Responsibility & Tasks


  • Create and design various materials for print and digital collateral.

  • Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule.

  • Establish creative direction for the Land Portal Foundation as well as brand guidelines.

  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.

  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images

  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software.

  • Working with other specialists, including the communications team and the web manager.



  • Proven experience in graphic design

  • Excellent visual design skills.

  • University degree in Graphic Design, Communications and Multimedia, or related disciplines;

  • Proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools.

  • Good understanding of search engine optimization principles.

  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues.

  • Awareness of accessibility and usability issues.

  • Understanding of HTML, CSS design, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility

  • A combination of excellent problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking and remote environment with strong work ethics and ability to self motivate and self organize;

  • Excellent command of English.

  • Affinity with the Land Portal’s mission, to support sustainable developments and eradicate poverty through open development and open data.


Terms of the contract

The Consultant will be hired for ad hoc support to the Land Portal Foundation in agreement with the team  leader.
