Knowledge management and learning are at the heart of the LAND-at-scale program. RVO, LANDac and the International Land Coalition (ILC) will collaborate to implement the knowledge management (KM) component of the program.

Through LAND-at-scale's country-projects, the aim is to achieve just, inclusive and sustainable land governance at scale and in a sustainable way. With an integrated KM-strategy, LAND-at-scale aims to achieve maximum impact of each project, as well as contribute to gaining a deeper understanding of the conditions required to create structural change.

The Rwanda Land Tenure Reform Program, launched in 2009, gained international attention by regularizing land tenure at an unparalleled scale. Over eleven million land parcels were demarcated, and eight million land titles were issued to their rightful owners. Despite this, the land tenure system still faces challenges. The land administration and information system (LAIS) does not yet sufficiently address social aspects, such as incorporating informal transactions and safeguards for women, or reducing high costs of participating.

The project worked to prevent, manage, and help resolve ongoing land conflicts and conflicts created through the land registration project, thereby maintaining micro- and macro-level peace and security and promoting reconciliation during the potentially destabilizing activities resulting from the implementation of the land law; to provide training for land conflict resolution; and to help the GoR implement land rights registration under its land reform program through participatory processes.

The Promoting Peace through Land Dispute Management project aims to manage and mitigate land-related conflict by improving the capacity and effectiveness of local institutions in managing land disputes. The project will also create a safe space for communities to discuss issues before they escalate into conflict.

Applying a people-to-people approach, this program builds on the success of existing programs and local institutions to facilitate the handling of land disputes.

LANDac is a partnership between Dutch organizations active in the field of land governance with the aim to optimize the link between land governance, sustainable development and poverty alleviation by generating, analyzing, synthesizing and disseminating knowledge. The grants contribute to the development and integration of pro-poor tools and approaches for securing land and natural resource rights into development programmes in 15 selected countries within East and Southern Africa (ESA). The grant aims to reduce rural poverty in Kirehe District, which is to be evidenced by a steep improvement in household food and nutrition security, asset ownership and quality of life indicators among vulnerable groups including woman-headed households, orphans and those living with HIV/AIDS. The immediate objectives of the project converge with the development of sustainable profitable small-scale commercial agriculture. The project aims to increase links between farmers, local markets and agricultural intensification program through irrigation scheme and value chain development.
