The Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development (RISD) is a civil society organization that is headquartered in Kigali City, in Rwanda. RISD is governed by a Board of Directors, and is managed by its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Annie Kairaba.

RISD was established in the period following the Rwandan genocide in 1994; and started its operation in Rwanda, cognizant that ‘Land’ is a priority issue in the country and underpins the country’s quest for sustainable development.

Companies can both positively and negatively impact the lives of their staff, the workers in their supply chains, the communities around their operations, and society more widely. Many of these negative impacts – large and small – are avoidable. If every business understood how its actions could undermine respect for human rights and took proactive steps to prevent their impacts, the world would be a different place. Responsible business prevents potential harms, ensures accountability and delivers lasting value. 

Who is the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Cambodia?

The Mon Youth Progressive Organization, MYPO, is an independent youth organization which was founded by the youth and students from different places in Mon State with the goals; supporting for democracy, human rights and building a strong civil society for peaceful and democratic change in Burma in 1999. It is temporarily located in Sangkhlaburi in Thai-Burma border. The members of the MYPO are students and grass-root activists who are interested in social and political change in Mon State particularly.

STAR Kampuchea (SK) is a Cambodian non-profit and non-partisan organization. It was established and officially recognized by the Ministry of Interior on August 1st, 1997.  SK has received funds from ANGOC, ANSA– EAP, BfdW, British Embassy, CIVICUS, Danida, DCA, DPA, Forum Syd, ILC, Netherland Embassy, NPA, Oxfam GB, Oxfam HK, SEACA, TAF, WB, and ZFD.

KHRG is an independent local organisation committed to improving the human rights situation in Burma by projecting the voices of villagers and supporting their strategies to claim human rights. We aim to increase villagers’ capability and opportunity to claim their human rights, and ensure that their voices, priorities and perspectives influence decision makers. We encourage other local and international groups and institutions to support villagers’ self-protection strategies.

Vision

The HURFOM was founded by pro-democracy students from the 1988 uprising and more recent activists and Mon community leaders and youths, and it main aim is for the restoration of democracy, human rights and genuine peace in Burma. HURFOM is a non-profit organization and all its members are volunteers who have the same opinion for the same aim.

Equitable Cambodia was formed out of the localization of the international solidarity organization Bridges Across Borders Cambodia (BABC) and was registered as a Cambodian national non-governmental organization in March 2012.

Every year millions of people are displaced from their homes, lands and livelihoods in the name of development.

Disenfranchised from decision-making, poor and marginalized communities are forced to shoulder the costs of development and are thrust into deeper poverty.  This crisis is fueled by unaccountable political and economic institutions that promote harmful investment, trade and development projects that fail to safeguard people’s rights, preserve common resources and distribute benefits equitably.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights is an independent state-funded institution. Our mandate is to promote and protect human rights and equal treatment in Denmark and abroad.

ALTSEAN-Burma (Alternative ASEAN Network on Burma) is a network of organizations and individuals based in ASEAN member states working to support the movement for human rights and democracy in Burma. The network is comprised of human rights & social justice NGOs, political parties, think tanks, academics, journalists and student activists. We were formed at the conclusion of the Alternative ASEAN Meeting on Burma held at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, in October 1996.

Officially formed in April 2013, The Forest Peoples Land Rights Network (LandNet) is a ‘member network established under the principles of volunteerism, democracy, cooperation and unification in order to manage and utilize efficiently land and forestry resources for self-sustaining livelihoods’. LandNet is a highly participatory bottom-up network originating from  the grassroots work facilitated by CIRUM and its Alliance partners over the last two decades.
