The FAO Legal Office provides in-house counsel in accordance with the Basic Texts of the Organization, gives legal advisory services to FAO members, assists in the formulation of treaties on food and agriculture, for which the Director-General acts as Depositary, publishes legal studies and maintains a database (FAOLEX) of national legislation and international agreements concerning food and agriculture (including fisheries, forestry and water).

These Regulations, made under section 109 of the Wills, Probate and Administration Act, establish priority of expenses in case the estate of a deceased person is insolvent and provides that the right of retainer of a personal representative shall apply to those debts' owing to the personal representative in his or her own right whether solely or jointly with another person.

Underground Data Transmission Ordinance.

The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the transmission of data on potential risk of the underground in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Article 2 establishes that for the purpose of the present Regulation potential risks of the underground are geological conditions and mining-related changes of the sub-soil which can lead to damage-causing events on the surface and represent a possible risk to human health, the environment and property in general.

Thüringen Ordinance on competences of land re-arrangement authorities.

The present Law implements various articles of the Federal Land Consolidation Act in its consolidated version of 16 March 1976 (BGBl. I p. 546) and the and the Reich Settlement Act of 11 August 1919. The Ordinance establishes the competent authorities responsible for the enforcement of the above-mentioned Federal Act. Article 1 establishes that the authority in charge of the new land re-arrangement is the State Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Forestries. The text consists of 4 articles.

Agriculture - Soil Protection Competence Ordinance.

The present Ordinance implements the Federal Soil Protection Act of 17 March 1998 (BGBl. I p. 502) and the Federal Soil Conservation Ordinance 12 July 1999 (BGBl. I p. 1554).In particular, the Ordinance designate the competent authorities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern responsible for the efficient enforcement of the afore-mentioned legislation.
